A dominant Stoke City display earned the three points at the bet365 Stadium.
James McClean, Tom Ince and Nick Powell all found the back of the net for the Potters, who could easily have added a few more. Charlton levelled against the run of play just before the break, but Stoke came out for the second half in a determined mood. Clucas’ delivery from a free-kick put the Charlton backline under pressure and Powell’s headed ball found James McClean all alone to tap the Potters into the lead.
City’s dominance didn’t see them going in ahead at the break however, a dangerous delivery was turned into the net via Purrington .
Straight after the half time break, Stoke were back in front through Ince’s first goal at the bet365 this season.
Allen picked the winger out in space and he finished coolly under Phillips.
O’Neill’s men looked comfortable with Charlton providing little in the way of attacking threat, but their defence was keeping them in it .
Smith in space was found by Campbell and his low delivery was turned into the net by Powell.
O’Neill’s men continued to dominate but that was the end of the scoring and another three points are on the board to move Stoke five points clear of the relegation zone. On to the visit of Preston on Wednesday night.
