Aladdin is  another Christmas present for the kids and adults alike.Filled with the usual humour about Stoke and its dialect, Aladdin is a fun filled panto  showing at the Regent Theatre.

With Jonathan Wilkes’ in role and the hilarious Christian Paterson as ‘Widow Twankey’ the pair combine effortlessly again continuing their lasting relationship on stage.

Yazmin Wood also impressed in a greater role than previously as Princess Jasmine.

The audience were wowed by the 3D aspect which brought a new dimension to the traditional pantomime layout, being a highlight of the night. For the kids, the illusion of objects flying towards them creates even more excitement than usual.

A staggering scene involved a flying carpet with Wilkes’ on it. We still can’t work out how they did it.

Kai Owen was also a highlight with the former Hollyoaks star playing the villain Abanazar flawlessly.

What shone through most was the relationship Wilkes & Paterson have with a loving Stoke crowd, the audience were already warmed when Wilkes’ yelled “Ay up me ducks” as he glided onto the stage.

If you’re after a classic Christmas visit to the Regent, Aladdin delivers, filled with the classic panto jokes, which, yes, are still just as funny.
