What a night, so worth the wait. After the disappointment of the late cancellation of last year’s show.
We all had to don masks but after a few minutes I forgot I was wearing one and everything was as normal as it could be. It is clear that the cast love performing in Stoke as much as the audiences appreciate them. Christian is again the best of pantomime dames but it would be wrong to single out any of the cast. From Kai Owen as Dandini to the Ugly Sisters Vivien Parry and Annie Wensak. Ryan Jump is a wonderful Prince Charming and Naomi Slights a graceful Cinderella. Fairy Godmother, Olympia Curry, casts her spell with poise. The dancers are outstanding too. In fact everything is outstanding about this show.
Without spoiling your enjoyment, many of the tried and trusted gags remain including the local football club banter and there is sufficient adult humour alongside the amusement for the children. The trip to the castle is spectacular and the open mouths and wide eyed children are just great to see.
Whilst some of the show has been modified to adapt to the Covid world, nothing is lost and if you are seated near the front, it might be an idea to take a waterproof!
Final word for the band who enhance the show and make the sing a long very special. Two years on, and so worth the wait. Don’t miss out.
Have a great Christmas!
