Knot FM is proud to offer it’s first community recognition award to runner and blogger Daniel Maddock.

Daniel is a committee member of Trentham running club and his blog “Trenthamfolk” is as interesting a read for a non-runner as a seasoned one, detailing the effort and determination of one man and his trainers!

Daniel’s achievements throughout 2013 were definitely something to be proud of. Improvements of just shy of 15 minutes on the Stafford Half Marathon from his 2012 time as well as over 10% year on year improvement in the Market Drayton 10K were just the beginning for Daniel.

The Shugborough Relays and South Cheshire 20 mile was the prelude to Daniel’s first marathon, Chester Marathon. Ran on 6th October this monster effort was the just rewards for a fantastic couple of years for Daniel. His finish time was an extremely respectable 4:35 and even more of a fantastic achievement when considering he was plagued by both left and right calf cramp throughout the race.

Daniel is within the top 5 in the Run Britain rankings for his postcode area and this achievement is even more spectacular when you think that this has come from a man who is no seasoned runner. Three years ago, Daniel himself admitted, could not run even 3 miles.

Out of trainers, Daniel is a committed family man and his love of running his shared by his wife and son who both partake in the sport. Daniel is also a firm fan of Formula 1 and despite not being able to match the speed of Sebastian Vettel’s latest ride, his grit, determination and stamina would be hard-pressed to match
