The Full Monty wheels into town as the huge British film success takes to the stage for its 2018/2019 tour.
For those unfamiliar, six down on their luck characters, each with as complicated as they are heartwarming back-stories, take Sheffield by storm with their novel money-making scheme.
The characters whilst quirky and hilarious in their own right, share a common despondency which has lead them on the journey into local celebrity. The hilarity is meticulously woven with the empathy for their situation. To that effect, the casting is quite brilliant.
Andrew Dunn (Dinnerladies, 55 Degrees North), Louis Emerick (Brookside, Coronation Street), Joe Gill (Emmerdale, Casualty), Gary Lucy (Hollyoaks, The Bill), Kai Owen (Casualty, Waterloo Road) and James Redmond (Hollyoaks, Casualty) lead the all-star cast.
Their work both individually and as a unit is sublime. They truly make the parts their own and are as formidable a cast as their acting pedigree would suggest.
Couple this with an infectious and toe-tapping soundtrack including Tom Jones and Hot Chocolate, then a night of fantastic entertainment is in store.
The opening night was an absolutely roaring success and a packed house was brought to its feet in a standing ovation.
The Full Monty is “Hot Stuff” and is brilliant not only for hardened theatre-goers but for those who are infrequent visitors to watch. Remember to leave your hat on though!!
The show runs until 24th November and tickets are online here
