452 fans gathered at Greenfields to see Stoke City manager Mark Hughes open the new club house.
A Stoke City XI which consisted of a number of youth team players and U21’s along with last year’s deadline day signing Maurice Edu. Market Drayton Town had former Tottenham and Sunderland French international Pascal Chimbonda playing as he keeps himself fit ahead of the new season.
The evening was a lovely celebration with other big names along with Mark Hughes there. The likes of former Stoke City director of football John Rudge and Mr Stoke City, commentator Nigel Johnson enjoyed the new facilities on show.
The game itself was fairly even with stoke city putting a different team out in the second half except American Edu who said
“it’s been a couple of months now I’ve had this injury, now I’m just gradually trying to get back to full fitness and get into the team from there.”
Hughes himself said that he hadn’t had the chance to look at Edu who’s been out now for two months. Hughes added
“along with seeing these wonderful facilities were also here too look at what Maurice can do.”/
Edu was calm on the ball but also looked good breaking up the play.
A strike from Yannick Mokata sealed a one nil win for Market Drayton in the first half after a goal mouth scramble.
