Tom Edwards’ first professional strike earned the Potters a thoroughly deserved point from Monday’s entertaining encounter with promotion hopefuls Norwich City at the bet365 Stadium.
The Stafford born full-back lashed home an unstoppable second half effort, shortly after the visitors had undeservedly regained the lead through the second tier’s leading marksman Teemu Pukki.
The Finnish international’s glancing header came entirely against the run of play however, with the hosts well in the ascendency at that point on the back of Ashley Williams’ first goal of the campaign, which had pegged Daniel Farke’s side back.
It appeared to be plain-sailing for the league leaders prior to that though, who were deservedly in front at the break thanks to Onel Hernandez who smartly dispatched from 12-yards after latching onto a free ball.
Neither side will feel too aggrieved at the outcome with both passing up opportunities to have claimed maximum spoils with substitute Tom Ince and Emiliano Buendia both going close late on. You sensed the goalscoring wouldn’t end at four as both sides pushed forward in search of a winner, although it was the visitors who came closest through Buendia, with the Argentinean forcing Butland into a superb late save.
Green shoots of recovery were seen once more as we move towards the season end.
