Sister Act is a musical delight and one of the most jubilant shows on at the theatre at present. Everyone  remembers the film starring Whoopie Goldberg, this theatrical version certainly gives it a run for its money.

When nightclub singer Deloris Van Cartier witnesses a murder committed by her gangster boyfriend, he is determined to track her down and so she is forced to hide out in the most inappropriate place, a convent! To keep Deloris out of mischief she is instructed to take over the choir and so begins the chaos . Lesley Joseph heads a talented cast as Mother Superior,  she is the star of the show.  With impeccable timing, she produces comedic lines plus excellent vocals. Alongside her, Landi Oshinowo is a fabulous Deloris Van Cartier with an incredible voice .  She has the rare ability to make you laugh as well using just her facial expressions. Sister Mary Robert  played by Lizzie Bea, provided the  vocal performance of the evening with  The Life I Never Led.

The songs in the show differ from the film version, but with numbers including Take Me To Heaven, Fabulous Baby, Within These Walls, Spread The Love and of course the title song, Sister Act  we have more than enough entertainment. The orchestra, directed by Neil MacDonald adds to the entertainment.

The production is quality, from artists to the costumes and set. Sister Act the Musical is  unmissable, entertaining,  and a show that will lift your spirits and set you singing and dancing all the way home. They all “rock the mic”
